Hello, my name is Rishad and I am T. Rex Design.
I design books, websites, print, editorial, and identity.
For over fifteen years, I have been a graphic designer, art director, illustrator, writer, editor and editorial consultant in Singapore, India, New Zealand and Dubai.
I count among my strengths the ability to create and communicate across media, from small canvases to large-scale strategy.

Owner, principal designer
I work on design projects for Ogilvy Singapore and recently designed a Health Promotion Board campaign to promote healthy eating in schools. I have also designed communication for Oracle.
I design books and book covers for Picador, Random House, Hachette, Westland Books, HarperCollins and independent publishers.
I designed the Young Olympian Daily, the official newspaper of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. I also taught a class in newspaper design at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU, Singapore.
I redesigned newspapers like the Wanganui Chronicle in New Zealand, The Emirates Evening Post in Dubai and Mid Day in Mumbai, all daily newspapers.
I design websites, including jacaranda-press.com, a literary agency; thehoot.org, a media watchdog website and hillroadmedia.com, a content company. I also design corporate identities.

In my capacity as an editorial designer, I was responsible for the design and navigation of New Zealand’s oldest daily newspaper. As a design editor and graphic designer, I worked with reporters, photographers and editors to manage content and tell stories more effectively.

I designed and art-directed four weekly magazine sections that covered health, technology and youth-specific content. I worked with different editors and editorial teams to plan content and editorial strategy.

Group Creative Director
I was responsible for creative strategy and design of the Mid Day Group brands across media. My work included supervision of news design, graphic design, sound design for the radio station and web design overview.
I handled some brand advertising and communication for the group.
I was part of the team that redesigned the group’s newspapers in 2000. I also trained journalists and designers.

I designed middaymultimedia.com, Mid Day’s corporate website, and mid-day.com, Mid Day’s Mumbai news portal. I also created all advertising for mid-day.com, which included print, radio, outdoor, and web communication.
I wrote and designed internet branding for the company website mid-day.com, and for corporate advertisers and sponsors on the site.

Chief Producer, Commercials
I scripted and produced radio commercials for Radio Mid Day, and for corporate advertisers and sponsors on the station. Clients included Coke, Pepsi, MTV, Cadbury, Nestle and Hallmark Cards, as well as local brands.
I also produced and engineered audio packaging for shows on Radio Mid Day and MTV promo spots, and created station- and show-specific IDs.

Additional Information
I wrote an irreverent weekly review on contemporary art for two years, a weekly column on radio for over two years and a fortnightly health column for a year. I once designed a collection of floor rugs for a furnishings company, like to take photographs, can speak fluent Adobe Creative Suite and am currently working on my first novel.
